  • send a friendly, funny business eCard that's not a practical joke to employees and other business contacts.

  • send an eCard to customers or prospects -- 'We have outrageously 'high' prices for today only. April Fools'. Just the opposite, today we are selling everything at 30% off and that's not a joke. But hurry, this offer is only good today.'

The History of April Fools' Day

April Fools' Day dates back to 16th century Europe, when Pope Gregory XIII called for an overhaul of the Julian calendar. This new, more accurate, Gregorian calendar would change the traditional New Year's of April 1st to the date most countries use today, January 1st. Much of Europe accepted the new calendar, but in France many people refused to accept the new calendar, and some did not even know about it. These individuals were often mocked and ridiculed. People would perform practical jokes and pranks on the "fools." When England became the last country to adapt the new calendar in 1752, April 1 became known as April Fools' Day in remembrance of the old New Year's Day.
