Earth Day eCards can improve your business and professional relationships as well as encourage respect for our environment.

Use Earth Day eCards to:

  • spread awareness of Earth Day and remind employees and business associates to recycle cans, bottles, and paper. If your company doesn't already recycle, begin a program in honor of Earth Day and send an eCard to announce your program to employees.

  • celebrate Earth Day by planting trees or flowers outside your workplace. Send Earth Day Invitation eCards to promote the event.

  • promote carpooling to and from work. Carpooling not only reduces exhaust, but also allows employees to get to know each other better. Use an online survey to see if employees are interested in a carpooling program.

  • encourage business colleagues and friends to take part in Earth Day celebrations in your local business community.

  • send an eCard to employees about your energy saving policies and provide simple tips like turning off the lights when they don't need them, purchasing energy-saver light bulbs, and shutting down computers after hours.

  • remind customers how your products / services encourage a cleaner environment.

  • allow employees to take one half day off per year to participate in a community clean-up event. Send an eCard to employees with the announcement, and send several Announcement eCards throughout the year to note the progress of your achievement.

You know we have to say this especially for Earth Day

    The History of Earth Day

In the late 1960s and 1970s, there was a growing concern about pollution and the environment. Earth Day first began in 1970 as a day to bring awareness to ecology and to the protection of the environment around the world. On April 22, over one hundred countries will celebrate Earth Day and many people participate in helping to save our world not just on Earth Day but every day of the year.

Since June 2001, the United States has partnered with 20 nations and the European Union on resolving environmental issues. On Earth Day 2007, US Federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Agriculture, and the State Department, participated in park cleanups, tree plantings, and environmental education events.

The United Nations celebrates Earth Day on the vernal equinox but many countries celebrate on April 22.

How can you make a difference?
    • Create space for a small garden or put plants on your deck or patio. Put potato and carrot peels, eggshells, and ground coffee into a compost heap.
    • When you are not using something, turn it off. Turn off lights, computers, televisions, or anything that uses energy. Many items, even DVD players, use energy when turned off, so unplugging those items is the only way to truly conserve.
    • Shut off the water when you brush your teeth.
    • Walk, use a bike, or use public transportation instead of using a car
    • Put water saving faucets in showers and sinks. They release a smaller amount of water and you probably won't notice the difference.
    • Hang clothes on a line outside instead of using a clothes dryer
