Election Day E-Cards
Don't forget to send Election Day E-cards by 11/3/2009. The History of Election Day (United States)The Constitution (Article II, Section 1) states "Congress shall determine the Time of choosing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States." A uniform date for the choice of electors in all states was determined in 1845. Congress established the "Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of November of the year in which they are to be appointed." Election Day is a legal holiday in the following states: Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and West Virginia. Some other states have laws that allow employees to take time off to vote without reprisal or a cut in pay.
