Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12 every year around the world because Florence Nightingale was born on this date. Nurses Day commemorates the accomplishments of both Nightingale and Mary Seacole, who both were pioneers in the nursing field. There are over 2.4 million registered nurses in the United States (information taken from the U.S. Censor Bureau).
