1. Set the thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer.
2. Turn off and unplug equipment and appliances when not in use. Why leave a computer running all night when you don't need to?
3. Use a "smart" power strip that senses when appliances are off and cuts "phantom" or "vampire" energy use.
4. Use energy saving fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
5. Install low-flow faucets and showerheads and have a faucet aerator.
6. Promote carpooling and/or encourage telecommuting, even if it's only once a week. With employee guidelines and work progress reports, telecommuting is an option that really can work.
7. Wear clothing that doesn't need to be dry-cleaned.
8. Keep electronics out of the trash. Checkout the Consumer Electronics Association Web site, www.MyGreenElectronics.org to locate electronics-recycling centers by ZIP Code.
9. Distribute information digitally rather than printing information on paper.
10. Shut off the water when you brush your teeth.
