Bosses Day isn't just for Bosses!

By Sarah Miller    10/3/2012

I was surprised one year, early on in my career, when an employee gave me a Bosses Day card. I was 'officially' his boss, so it was appropriate, but I had always thought of myself as part of their team. I all of a sudden felt a little separated from the ’pack’ (so to speak). Was I doing something that I didn’t know about that made me their ’boss’? Was that a bad thing?

Fast forward several years and it's clear to me that without a successful team, I would be the boss of nothing.  It's thoughtful when I receive  Bosses Day eCards, but I will also make a point of it to recognize my employees. On good days, and not so good days, it's the employees who drive a company forward and get the job done.
As people celebrate Bosses Day on October 16th, CorpNote wants to remind people that the holiday can also be about Employee Appreciation. In our upcoming Bosses Day newsletter, we will discuss not only ways to appreciate a boss on Bosses Day but also ideas for employee appreciation that can last well beyond the holiday. I hope you enjoy the issue!
