Contact Management keyboard_arrow_right Subscribers keyboard_arrow_right Unsubscribe Requests

Every email you send through CorpNote contains an unsubscribe link. When people unsubscribe, you will not be able to send email to that contact even if they are in your CorpNote address book.

If the contact has requested to be unsubscribed from your email list but has not used the CorpNote unsubscribe form, you can unsubscribe for them which will prevent you from accidentally sending emails to that contact. If the contact later re-subscribes through your CorpNote subscribe form, the "unsubscribed" status will be removed and you will be able to send email to the contact again.

You can export unsubscribed contacts as a .csv comma delimited file that can be imported into other contact manager programs that accept this type of file. This is helpful if you need to update unsubscribed contacts in another contact manager.

How to View Unsubscribed Contacts

  • Go to My Account > Address Book and click the 'Subscribers' tab
  • You will see a section for "Unsubscribed" which contains:
    • the date the person unsubscribed
    • their name and email address if they are in your address book
    • only their email address if they are NOT in your address book
    • the reason why they unsubscribed which is optional information they can provide after they unsubscribe

thumb_up Important Notes

If someone has unsubscribed:

  • Their contact information will not be removed from your address book, but the person's record will be marked "Unsubscribed" and you cannot send email to them.
  • If you delete the contact from your address book, you will not be able to add them back into your address book.
  • If you send an email to an email list that contains unsubscribed contacts, those contacts will NOT be added to the send list
  • If the contact wants to re-subscribe, they must use your CorpNote subscribe form for you to be able to send them email again. (see next tutorial)
  • If an email is forwarded and that person clicks on the 'Unsubscribe' link, they will be able to unsubscribe from your email list even if you did not send the email to them

How to Delete Unsubscribed Contacts from your Address Book

  • To delete a single unsubscribed contact, click the delete icon delete next to their name. You will have the two delete options available for single contacts: Address Book Delete and All Data Delete. (refer to the delete contacts tutorial for detailed instructions)
  • To delete multiple unsubscribed contacts from your address book, click the button for 'Clean Address Book.' You will be able to confirm the contacts for deletion. Deleting multiple address book contacts will only delete contacts from your address book. You cannot choose the 'All Data Delete' option from this screen.

  • When you delete unsubscribed contacts from your address book, these contacts will no longer count in the total number of contacts allowed in your address book

How to Unsubscribe a Contact

If a contact has requested to be unsubscribed but has not used the CorpNote unsubscribe form, you can unsubscribe for them. This will prevent you from accidentally sending emails to that contact when using CorpNote.

  • On the 'Subscribers' tab under the section for "Unsubscribed", click the link for 'View your Unsubscribe Form'
  • Enter the contact's email address and click the 'Unsubscribe' button
  • You can optionally enter the reason

Note: An email is not sent to the person when using the unsubscribe form.

Export Unsubscribed Contacts

You can export unsubscribed contacts as a .csv comma delimited file that can be imported into other programs that accept this type of file. This is helpful if you need to update unsubscribed contacts in another contact manager.

  • On the 'Subscribers' tab under the section for "Unsubscribed", click the link for 'Download .csv File'
  • You can now open the file in other programs that accept this type of file, such as MS Excel

Fields included in the File

  • Date the list was downloaded
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email
  • Date Unsubscribed
  • Reason

thumb_up Important Notes

  • First and last name will only appear if they are a current address book contact
  • Reason will only appear if the person provided a reason when they unsubscribed
